The Nurse and Midwifery Organisation of Ljubljana has been organizing seminars and training workshops in the field of professional ethics in nursing and midwifery care since 2004. The programs of professional seminars Professional Ethics in the Practice of Nursing and Midwifery Care cover the presentation of ethical principles, standards and violations of the Code of Ethics for Nurses and Nurse Assistants of Slovenia and the Code of Ethics for Midwives of Slovenia.
Special emphasis is placed on the ethical and professional responsibility alongside ethical communication of nursing and midwifery care providers.
The participants also learn about the influence of the environment on ethical decision-making and conduct and frequent ethical problems and dilemmas from everyday practice. Featured content meets the requirements of recommended content for obtaining a license for independent work in nursing and midwifery care. Seminars are designed for those who practice nursing or midwifery care.
Professional seminar The Management of Nursing and Midwifery Care in the Light of Ethics is intended for the target group of lead nurses and midwives. Featured content enables a better understanding of ethical criteria and responsibility in managing nursing and midwifery teams in addition to presenting ethical principles, standards and violations of professional codes of ethics. By solving ethical problems the participants gain the knowledge needed to solve ethical problems in practice. By preparing the plan for implementation of ethics in practice they learn about the possibilities and ways to improve the working environment.
Professional Ethics in a Senior Care Facility is a professional seminar with a training workshop for nursing care teams working in senior care facilities. In addition to acquainting themselves with ethical principles, standards, and violations of the professional code of ethics, the participants of the workshop are actively involved in solving ethical problems and dilemmas that arise in the practice of geriatric nursing care.
The Nurse and Midwifery Organisation of Ljubljana devotes special attention to the topic of respect for dignity, which is one of the fundamental values of nursing and midwifery care. In a professional seminar with a training workshop Violation of Patient Dignity and the Dignity of Nursing and Midwifery Personnel the participants recognize the need to respect the dignity of patients and all those involved in the process of nursing and midwifery care.
