Fine arts

Our artwork nowadays embellishes many healthcare institutions and brings joy to patients and visitors.

Within the Nurse and Midwifery Organisation of Ljubljana the Fine Arts Group has been creating since 1997. It brings together nursing care employees, especially nurses.

We meet on Tuesdays at the premises of the Organisation at Poljanska 14. Our group has 14 members and under the mentorship of Emilija Erbežnik we create using watercolours and acrylic. Our co-mentor is Edvard Ilar, who is an art pedagogue. Additionally, we are practicing drawing and graphics.

Our main motifs are still life, landscapes, and figure painting.

We also create art pieces at our annual art colony that last a few days.

As a group we have exhibited at the Krvina Gallery in Gorenja vas, University Psychiatric Clinic Ljubljana, University Rehabilitation Institute of Republic of Slovenia, Faculty of Health Sciences in Ljubljana, Retirement Homes Tabor and Moste-Polje, Blood Transfusion Centre of Slovenia and UMC Ljubljana’s Department of Ophthalmology, Division of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and Nursing Care Department, where there is a permanent exhibition. In October 2015 we exhibited at the Psychiatric Hospital Idrija, in December at the National and University Library, the Trubar Homestead, SALUS Ljubljana, the Secondary School of Nursing Ljubljana and the Medical Chamber of Slovenia.

On International Nurses Day, 12 May, we annually exhibit at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana’s Dolenc Gallery.

Some of our members also had solo exhibitions.

Our artwork nowadays embellishes many healthcare institutions and brings joy to patients and visitors.

We inform the interested professional and other public about our activities, and we are present on the web pages of the Organisation (www.drustvo-med-sester-lj.si) and in the Nurses and Midwives Association of Slovenia’s newsletter Utrip.
